History & Experience

A Lifelong Passion for Interior Design

Growing up in Connecticut, my passion for interior design began in childhood with collecting House of the Week floor plans from the Sunday newspaper and transforming them into custom houses for my dolls, using various materials such as tissue boxes and fabric scraps for furnishings. This creative spark led me to pursue a degree in Interior Design and launch my namesake firm in 1986 after gaining invaluable experience at two prestigious architectural firms; Russell Gibson Von Dohlen in Farmington, Connecticut and Herbert S. Newman Architects in New Haven, Connecticut.

For over 30 years, I’ve built lasting client relationships through word-of-mouth referrals, completing diverse projects including law offices, hotels, restaurants, private schools, and residential homes across New England and New York. My inspiration is drawn from colors and patterns from the natural world, as well as my own extensive gardens, travels, and library of international and regional design.

What sets Design Studio apart is a commitment to personalized design, exceptional craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail. With trusted architects, contractors, tradespeople and custom workrooms that I’ve collaborated with for decades, every project becomes a unique reflection of the client’s personality, taste, and story.
